The Central Bank of Brazil (BC) has issued a directive requiring banks to implement an alert system to warn customers of potential Pix scams. This measure is expected to take effect in 2025 and aims to enhance the security of the instant payment platform. The alert system will notify users when a Pix transaction is initiated from an unfamiliar device or when the recipient's name or account number differs from the intended recipient. This will provide an additional layer of protection against fraudulent activities and help customers avoid financial losses. The BC emphasizes the importance of vigilance and encourages users to report any suspicious transactions promptly.
