The extension was granted in response to a request from the Attorney General's Office, which argued that more time was needed to ensure a thorough and inclusive process. The original deadline was set to expire on 28th February 2023, but has now been extended to 10th March 2023.

The framework is intended to provide clear guidelines for proposing, debating, and approving constitutional amendments, ensuring transparency and accountability in the process. It will include provisions for public consultation, expert input, and parliamentary oversight.

The STF's decision underscores the importance of a robust and well-defined framework for constitutional amendments. It will help to strengthen the rule of law, protect fundamental rights, and ensure that changes to the Constitution are made in a responsible and democratic manner.
